Terms of Service
Last updated 30 August 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and The Forge. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. The service
The Forge is a discipline and accountability app. It lets you declare commitments, run focus sessions, block distracting apps on your own device, keep a personal Creed, and be held accountable by a small group of other users called a Triad.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old to use The Forge. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use it with the consent of a parent or guardian. You must provide accurate information and are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
3. Your account
You sign in through Google or Apple. Keep that account secure; you are responsible for activity carried out through it. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access. You may delete your account at any time from within the app.
4. Free trial, subscriptions and billing
Every new account begins with a 14-day free trial with full access and no card required. When the trial ends, continued access requires a paid membership.
Subscriptions are billed through Stripe on the plan and interval you choose, and renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. Prices may change, and we will give you notice before a change affects your renewal.
The Founding 20 is a limited cohort offered at a fixed price, subject to availability and to our acceptance of your application.
5. Refunds
Because a full 14-day free trial is provided before any payment is taken, payments are generally non-refundable. If something has gone wrong, contact us at theforgemaster1@proton.me and we will deal with it fairly. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under the law that applies to you, or the policies of the app store you purchased through.
6. App blocking, and what it is not
The Forge can block other apps on your device during focus sessions and Dark Hours, using the device's own operating-system features. You choose which apps are affected, and you grant the permission that makes it work.
Important. App blocking is a self-discipline tool, not a safety mechanism. It can be interrupted by operating-system behaviour, device restarts, permission changes, battery optimisation, or software updates. Do not rely on The Forge in any situation where being unable to reach an app could cause harm, and never rely on it to restrict access for anyone other than yourself. Emergency calling is never blocked by us, but you should not depend on the app behaving in any particular way in an emergency.
7. Your content
What you write in The Forge stays yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store it and show it back to you, and to show the limited parts described in our Privacy Policy to members of your Triad. We do not use your content for advertising and we do not sell it.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, or impersonate anyone
- Post unlawful, hateful, or sexually explicit content
- Use another member's account, or share yours
- Attempt to breach, probe, or disrupt the service or its security
- Use automated means to access the service or scrape its data
- Use The Forge to restrict or monitor another person's device
Triads exist for accountability, not cruelty. Members who use them to harass others will be removed.
9. Moderation and reports
You can report another member from within the app. We review reports and may warn, suspend, or permanently remove accounts that break these terms. We aim to be fair and to act proportionately, but we make the final decision.
10. Availability
We work to keep The Forge running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give reasonable notice and a means to export your data.
11. Disclaimer
The Forge is provided "as is". It is a productivity and habit tool. It is not medical, psychological, financial, or professional advice, and it is not a treatment for any condition. If you are struggling with your mental health, please speak to a qualified professional.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, for lost profits or opportunities, or for any loss arising from missed commitments, blocked or unblocked apps, or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Termination
You may stop using The Forge and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and we will give notice in the app before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use The Forge after that means you accept the new terms.
