Delete Your Account

Last updated 2 September 2026

This page explains how to delete your account in The Forge and exactly what happens to your data when you do.

Delete it from inside the app

Deletion is built into the app and takes under a minute. You do not need to email anyone or wait for us to action a request.

  1. Open The Forge and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings (the gear icon in the bottom navigation).
  3. Scroll to the bottom, to the Danger Zone.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
  5. Type DELETE when prompted, to confirm you meant it, then confirm again.

Your account and the data listed below are erased immediately. You are signed out straight away, and the email address becomes free to register again from scratch.

This is permanent. Your streak, your Monolith, your Creed and your entire history go with it. There is no undo and no recovery window. We cannot restore a deleted account, even if you ask us the same day.

If you cannot get into the app

Lost your device, or can’t sign in? Email theforgemaster1@proton.me from the address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. We verify ownership of the email address and complete the deletion within 30 days, usually far sooner.

What is deleted

Everything below is erased permanently:

DataWhat it covers
Your accountEmail address, username, avatar colour, sign-in identity
Your CreedYear, month, week and daily goals, your reasons, pain and pleasure points
Commitments & historyEvery commitment, focus session, outcome, streak and proof record
Your TriadYour membership of any Triad, and any Triad you created
Public postsYour Wall of Shame confessions and the witness marks on them
ReflectionsEvening reflections and daily completions
SettingsDark Hours schedule, notification preferences, push tokens

What is kept, and for how long

DataWhyRetention
Payment and invoice records Our payment processor, Stripe, holds these to satisfy tax and anti-fraud law. We never store your card details ourselves. As required by law, typically 7 years
Anonymous aggregate counts Totals such as “how many commitments were completed today”. These carry no identifier and cannot be traced back to you. Indefinite
Encrypted server backups Routine disaster-recovery snapshots, which naturally age out. Deleted within 30 days

What never left your device in the first place

Two things you might expect to be on our servers are not, and so there is nothing for us to delete: the proof photos you take (only a local file reference is stored) and the list of apps you chose to block (kept in the app’s own on-device storage). Both disappear when you uninstall the app.

Deleting some data without closing your account

You can clear individual items inside the app without deleting your account: edit or replace your Creed at any time, and remove a commitment from your history. Wall of Shame confessions are deliberately permanent (that is the point of posting one), but they go when the account does.
